Big Girl Room

Brianna has slept in her "big girl room" for 3 nights now!  The bed was all ready for her 4 days before she would actually sleep there.  She's been very excited about her new room since we started working on it, but once the lights were turned out at night, it was a different story.  I had to get all of her stuff moved into the room before she would even think about it.  Her first night in the new room she was worn out and slept all night.  The second night she woke up once and wanted to go back into her old bed.  I let her, but told her I would not stay in there with her.  She came to our room a few minutes later and said "I want to sleep in my big girl bed with you."  So I stayed in there with her until she fell asleep.  Hoping this habit will not be too difficult to break...  Last night she didn't even mention her old bed.  Hopefully by this weekend we'll be ready to convert the "old bed" back into the crib for the new baby!

30 weeks

Well, there are just 10 weeks left (give or take) until the next member of the Horner clan will make his/her appearance!  Brianna is still convinced the baby is a girl.  I told her a couple of days ago that we needed to go to Babies-r-Us to get a boy outfit and a girl outfit so the baby will have something to wear home from the hospital. She told me that we did not need to buy a boy outfit.  Here is an updated belly picture:

December catch-up

It's been a busy December for the Horner family!  We started off the first weekend with Austin becoming a teenager!  The rest of the month has been filled with Christmas parties and family get-togethers.  Brianna had a wonderful time this Christmas.  We left Santa some chocolate chip cookies and chocolate milk (because chocolate milk is Santa's favorite according to her).  Brianna was fighting going to bed on Christmas Eve...so much so that she was crying and telling me that she didn't want any presents for Christmas because she was on the naughty list.  I'm not sure where she got that from, but it did worry me a bit that she would start crying instead of getting excited on Christmas morning.  I had nothing to fear, she was very excited to open her presents (and help others open all of their gifts) at the 6 different places there were gifts to open!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town!

It's two days after Thanksgiving and we are in full Christmas mode in the Horner household :-)  We are almost finished with the decorating, have been baking goodies, and Brianna is loving the Christmas music!

Gatlinburg 2010

Steve, Brianna and I went to Gatlinburg a couple of weekends ago with some friends.  Unfortunately, Austin couldn't go with us because of his school schedule.  The weather could have been better while we were there (it was pretty cold and rainy Friday and most of Saturday), but we still had a good time.  Brianna had a great time at the Aquarium and on the chair lift up the mountain in downtown Gatlinburg.  She also loved The Christmas Place...is still talking about it.  She is going to be a blast this Christmas!

After being a good girl at the outlet mall, we promised her a ride...she obviously love it!

We went to a little amusement park on Wears Valley Road

Steve had fun too :-)

Halloween 2010

The week of Halloween was a fun one!  Tuesday, we (meaning Steve) carved the pumpkins.  The kids enjoyed cleaning them out :-)  Thursday, Brianna had trick-or-treating at preschool. The parents got to hide behind different doors in the church and the kids knocked on them to trick-or-treat.  They were all dressed up as little mice.  Ms. Lana looked back at me at one point and said "Brianna knows what she is doing!"  After trick-or-treating, the kids sang their Halloween songs they had been practicing.  Sunday was trick-or-treat in our neighborhood.  I didn't get any pictures of Austin because he took off early dressed in his Lebron James jersey...  Brianna had a blast walking house to house in our neighborhood with her cousin, Ava!
