Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend - time spent with family, great food, and four Easter egg hunts that Brianna thoroughly enjoyed (all inside due to this rainy April weather).  Brianna proved to be the best egg-hunter.  There was one last egg Austin was unable to find at our house.  So then I started looking for it as well.  I had been looking for a few minutes and walked right by it when Brianna said "Austin forgot a blue egg!"  That little stinker found it! :-)

Smile!

Trey smiled at me the first time on Sunday morning, when he was exactly 4 weeks old.  This morning he was smiling a lot and I captured it!

He was not smiling anymore once he got to his 1 month checkup.  Everything is great, but he did not like being messed with!  Also had to get one shot.  He is now 10 lbs. 8.6 oz (65%) and 22 inches long (75%).

After the appointment, I took the kids to the mall.  I was hoping to be able to post a picture of them sitting with the Easter Bunny.  Brianna was very excited to see him, but wanted nothing to do with getting close to him this year.  She didn't want to sit with Santa at Christmas either...maybe next year!

One Month

It's hard to believe our little guy is already one month old!  His one month check up is on Friday.  I am anxious to see how much he weighs now (I'm thinking about 10 1/2 lbs) seeing he never seems to be satiated.  He is definitely a growing boy!

2 weeks old

Trey is now two weeks old!  He is doing well...is eating constantly and had already passed up his birth weight at his appointment last Thursday, when he was 11 days old.  He was 8 lb. 4.4 oz.  Babies are supposed to gain 1/2 - 1 oz. per day, and he gained 10 oz. in 7 days!  Brianna is a great big sister and is always saying "I love baby Trey" :-)  She always wants to be touching him, and I frequently have to tell her to leave him alone while he is sleeping.  I guess it could be worse!

So excited to feed Trey a bottle

Steven "Trey" Horner

We apologize for the delay...it's been a rough week!  We would now like to announce the birth of our new baby boy, Trey!  He came into the world very quickly...born just an hour and 45 minutes after I called the doctor to say "I think this is it."  We stayed at the hospital for one night and were able to come home the following evening.  There was some concern with Trey's bilirubin level (jaundice) when we left the hospital, but they just ordered that we have it tested again the following day.  Unfortunately, the pediatrician called us back after learning his level the next day and told us that he needed to be readmitted to the hospital to be given phototherapy.  So we spent Tuesday evening,  night, and most of Wednesday in the NICU.  He did great in his little tanning booth and ate great as well, which was important for helping his body rid itself of the bilirubin.  At his pediatrician appointment on Thursday morning, the doctor said Trey appeared to be doing great and there was no need for further testing.

Austin and Brianna are both in love with Trey and it is so cute to see them with him.  Austin was excited for us to get home from the hospital on Monday and Wednesday so he could see him again.  Brianna constantly wants to hold him and kiss him :-)  So without further ado...

Still waiting...

We're playing the waiting game right now.  I've not progressed at all in 3 weeks, but keep thinking that every night could be "the night!"  2 weeks ago Brianna said to me "Mommy, I'm ready for my baby to come out now."  I told her that I was ready too :-)  I am enjoying being able to sleep a little longer each morning and getting to spend time with her without having to log onto work.  Yesterday we went to the mall, where Brianna got to play in the play area, then ride the carousel.  When we got home, I gave her some scrapbooking stuff that I had bought her with the hope that it would give me a chance to get some scrapbooking done.  Plus, she keeps taking pictures with the camera she got for Christmas and saying that they are for her scrapbook...but she did not have one!  I'm pretty impressed with her first ever page:

Hope to be able to post within the next day or two with pictures of the new baby!

One month!

One month, or less...that is all that is left of life as we know it!  I see little babies with their parents recently and it still seems strange to me that we will have a new little life in our house by next month at this time.  I had my first check at the doctor yesterday and am already 2 cm dilated.  Of course, they tell you that does not mean anything with regard to when the baby will decide to show up, but it's hard not to get excited knowing the end of this pregnancy is near and the process has started!
36 weeks:

While I'm counting down the days, I've realized that I don't have too many more to spend with just Brianna.  My boss has approved of my maternity leave starting a week before my due date so that I can spend some time with Brianna before the baby is here.  Of course, that will only be possible if the baby comes before or after my due date.

Mom and I took her to Chuck E. Cheese's on Friday and she had a blast :-)

Also, here is a cute picture of the kids from earlier this week, waiting to open their Valentine's:
